Refreshments: It’s a Pot Luck!
TMTW “End of Year Party“
Spring Potluck , FRIDAY, May 15, 2015, 6 PM: Our May meeting is always fun and full of sun!! We’ll be at Jackie Siglin’s house. The TMTW will furnish beverages and paper goods. Please let Jackie know what you plan to bring so she can make sure we don’t have too much of something. And don’t forget your picture writing prompts (see below for this month’s prompts). This is also the meeting where we elect officers for next year. Please consider taking a job you haven’t tried before. Our club needs all of us to keep it strong.
Hasta la vista,

Dang! The year has flown! Can it really be May already?
The Texas Mountain Trail Writers has had quite a year! We have tried some new things and sadly had to let an old one go for this year.
The new things included our very successful NaNoWriMo month of events last November in the talented hands of Anne VanLoon. Our February meeting of love poetry readings with Larry Thomas was also a great success! The addition of Sul Ross students from Dr. Theron Francis’ and Dr. Nelson Sager’s classes were delightful fun and expanded everyone’s experiences. We so enjoyed having the students join us and their hard work! Dr. Francis’ class were the presenters and flash writing facilitators for our October meeting. They really stretched our writing chops!
The one very sad event we had to let go this year was our Annual Retreat. Several factors contributed to our having to cancel it. We are looking forward to 2016!
The Chaos, our journal, will be mailed to you or given to you (if possible) soon as soon as it is published. We’ll let you know when it’s ready!
The local members of the TMTW are having their May potluck at Jackie’s house on May 15 at 6:00. If you happen to be in the Big Bend, please feel free to bring a dish and join us. Jackie happy to give directions over the phone. So email her with your phone number .
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make the potluck as I will be on my way to Virginia. I will be visiting my dad and brother – and celebrating my dad’s 94th birthday with him! He is a rockstar! He still lives alone, legally is still driving, works in the yard, and it quite independent! I am very blessed.
I will be traveling all summer and into the fall. Virginia to start, then Los Angeles in July, and then…who knows? My calendar is open right now. I am hoping to pick up a house and/or pet sitting gig or two on the west coast. Then perhaps be back in Alpine in October.
I have so enjoyed being the TMTW steering committee “facilitator” for this last year. Our steering committee is comprised of dedicated and fun members. Since I am stepping down, we are on the lookout for a few more people to join us! If you enjoy this group and want to be more involved, the steering committee is a great place to be! Just ask if you have any questions.
Have a wonderful, creative, inspired and fun summer!

P.S. Yes, I will still be sending out the email newsletter and updating the website! So you can’t get rid of me that easy. Haha!

Picture Writing Prompts
Writing inspiration this year will come to you monthly in the form of two pictures from which to choose as a writing prompt.
The usual rules apply, 500 words or fewer, to be read at the next meeting if you wish. The genre is your choice. The works will be collected for inclusion in our annual journal, Chaos West of the Pecos.
